Summer Schools for Baroque and Renaissance Flautists : 2010

This is a list of Summer Schools for which I have been able to find details on the web that might be of interest to baroque and/or renaissance flautists. Please note that it only lists courses with a named teacher of traverso. There are many other early chamber music and orchestral courses that welcome traverso players but they are not the focus of this page.

If you wish to search more widely the following links may be of help. Early Music of America maintain a festival and workshops calendar and also has a summer workshops section. This danish list of early music course links is now somewhat out of date but may be helpfull.

I'm told several print publications give details of flute related summer courses, Traversières in France, Tibia in Germany and Ardal Powell's Traverso.

For historical interest the page for last year's (2009) summer schools is also still available

User Manual :

The list is ordered by start date but you can sort it differently by clicking on the column headings (Date, Title, Teacher, etc.). Clicking again will invert the order of the sort.

Click on the links in the 'Information' column to visit the relevant site or download information on the course. Please note that not all organisers have updated their sites yet!

International Renaissance Flute Days - Stuttgart Oct. 2010

Not a summer school as such but an important meeting this autumn for those interested in renaissance flute will be held from the 8th to 10th of October 2010 at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. Organised by Hans Joachim Fuss and Cássio Rafael Caponi it brings together players, musicologists and instrument makers for a weekend of concerts, lectures and exhibitions. Details will be posted on the facebook group page.

Absent but not forgotten

For the moment my list of teachers it would be interesting to study with but as far as I know don't have anything planned is the same as last year! Philippe Alain Dupré, Kate Clark, Bart Kuijken, Rachel Brown, Frank Theuns and Marc Hantai.
If they do, or there are others that I have missed please do not hesitate to inform me at the address below or via the yahoo early flute group.
